This distinction is a public recognition of Portuguese companies that, due to their high performance in innovation and notoriety, demonstrate that it is possible to combine adequate financial strength, technological investment and the conviction that Innovation is essential to increase competitive potential and economic results.

COTEC Portugal, the Association for Innovation, is the main Portuguese business association for promoting innovation and business technology cooperation. COTEC Portugal's universe includes multinational companies, large national groups and SMEs in various sectors of activity.

The result of a partnership between institutions in the financial sector and COTEC Portugal, the COTEC INNOVATIVE Status aims to distinguish companies with superior performance by recognizing their example, raising their profile and reinforcing their value in the market.

In the third edition, 1184 companies applied and 792 Statutes were awarded, according to the demanding criteria defined in the ‘COTEC INOVADORA’ regulations. In the three editions of the initiative, more than 1000 companies have been awarded the 'COTEC Innovative status.
